You Can Have More - If You Become More

You Can Have More - If You Become More
Here’s the great challenge of life:
You can have more than you’ve got because you can become more than you are.
I have found that income seldom will exceed your own personal development. Once in a while income takes a lucky jump, but unless you grow out to where it is, it will go back to where you are. Somebody once said if you took all the money in the world and divided it equally among everyone, it would soon be back in the same pockets.
However, you can have more because you can become more. You see, here is how the other side of the coin reads:
Unless you change how you are, you will always have what you’ve got.
The major thing that makes the difference is what you do— it is the human effort that counts. In order to have more, you need to become more.

The guy says, “If I had a good job I would really pour it on, but I have this lousy job so I just goof off.” If that is your philosophy, you are destined to stay there. Some people say, “If I had a lot of money, I would be really generous, but I don’t have much, so I’m not generous.” See, you’ve got to change that philosophy or you will never have “the lots of money.”
Unless you change, it won’t change.
Amazingly, however, when we throw out our blame list and start becoming more ourselves, the difference is everything else will begin to change around us.

How To Turn Life's Lemons Into Lemonade

How To Turn Life's Lemons Into Lemonade

This article is a shift in terms of focus. Although relevant for the fields of business development and growth, the theme of this article is on personal development before business development.
I've always been a huge fan of sales gurus and personal growth experts like Zig Ziglar, Earl Nightingale, Norman Vincent Peale, Dale Carnegie, etc. While initially thinking these guys were full of 'it' and irrelevant; now, with time and experience having matured me to a reasonable level (I hope), I've come to not only attest to truths that these guys and others live by and teach, but also their beliefs and wisdom are very relevant and timeless.
One of the core truths taught and deeply ingrained into my subconscious is the following:
Failures in life will either strengthen and motivate you to grow and develop or they have the very real ability to break you down.
What do I mean when I say failures in life?
Well, quite simply, these are the moments in our lives that the results and outcomes come totally different and often more severe than we had anticipated. Whether it's a job loss, divorce, eviction, bankruptcy, failed job interview, a blown investment, or being defrauded by someone, we all face these challenges at one time in life or another.
The key that I've learned about these negative life events is that you have A CHOICE in how you respond.
The thing that keeps most of us in 'ruts' of negativity, isolation, and hopelessness is that we allow ourselves to be motivated by fear in a wrong way.
Rather than thinking about how worse and severe a negative life event can become, why not choose to be motivated by the fear of the situation to take hold of hope.
Choose to take a strong hold of hope and never let go no matter how bad it hurts or feels.
Now here's another underlying truth in being motivated by the fear of negative life events: don't labour your mind or put a heavy burden on yourself for solving your problems overnight; instead, relax, rest, and remain positive.
What I've learned and continue to grow in is that more than likely the answer needed to resolve the problem(s) is right under your nose or floating somewhere in your mind.

How do these 'uh huh' moments happen? Truly in the most odd ways possible to be completely honest.
There's no secret formula (or at least one that I've found that works) or secret sauce that induces these moments, but here's one way to put yourself in the state of mind to increasing their frequency:
Relax, live life, serve others well, listen more than you speak, forgive completely, and love sincerely.

*keep moving towards your goals
*despite what failures may occur on your journey.
I am learning (albeit late in life) to:
*embrace ones failures
as they are just lessons that make you & me
*stronger and more determined to succeed!"

1 Mph Is Better Motivation Than Standing Still!

1-Mph Hour Is Always Better Motivation
Than Standing Still
If you are currently standing still and begin to move at
1-mph, you can accomplish anything you desire.
Simply moving forward at any speed will begin to take you in a positive direction.
Take that first step.
1-mph is the half-way point between sitting and walking.
Moving at 1-mph you can...
  • Walk 1 mile in an hour
  • Walk 24 miles in a day
  • Complete a 5k in 3.1 hours
  • Run a marathon in 26.2 hours
  • Move from the East coast to the West coast of the USA in 125 days going 1-mph
  • Circle the earth in 2 yrs and 288 days
  • In 28 years you could even reach the moon
  • At 1-mph YOU can take the first step to achieving your goals.
Moving forward even at 1-mph makes much more sense than not moving at all.
At 1-mph you are moving slow enough to be in complete control yet able to shift direction or even stop, without any major damage. You have the time to view your surroundings and establish the impact, while still moving forward.
"The risk of failure is nearly diminished because you are not out of control, but in complete control."
This analogy can be used when examining the impact new technology can potentially have on a business. In many cases, a technologies value cannot be recognised until it is functioning as part of their environment and experiencing the benefits firsthand.

However, there always needs to be that first step towards positive movement.
Becoming a data driven organisation is a classic example of this mindset. I would venture to say that every organisation has areas of their business where combining disparate data sources is going to save them time, money, and open a window into additional valuable insight that is not currently visible.
Forward movement (1-mph) can be as simple as determining where you are spending additional efforts combining data, or what data information would you like to leverage that is not currently accessible. No expenses are incurred other than the time understanding and making internal business connections to the technology you are investigating, and taking that first step.
You can apply this concept to any aspect of your business or personal life and go anywhere you want moving at 1-mph.
At the very least, you are moving forward; and when you move forward, good things always happen.
It is all about that first step.

Be The 3%! - Taking A Positive Pursuit Towards Your Desires

Taking A Positive Pursuit
Towards Your Desires
Your pursuit towards your desires encourages you towards your own achievement
This drives you toward greater satisfaction in your life lays a new blueprint for more positive experiences.
  • Do you have a strategy for staying healthy?
  • For staying passionate?
  • For living some part of your dream every day?
  • What does that look like for you?
  • What could it look like if you let it?
We're taught not to be too self-important, not to be conceited or think too highly of yourself. Women particularly are programmed to be hard on themselves and judgmental. We're taught that how you look is more important than what you think.

You're taught to put the needs of others before our own.
Whatever you believe intellectually, it can be hard to overcome these stereotypes and break out into what is yours to do and feel good about it. To feel confident and purposeful. That said, it's an 'inside job'- one you must do yourself.
When in pursuit towards your desires begin with valuing yourself, your contributions, your visions, your goals and your dreams.
Small gratifications in your pursuit towards your desires make up the bigger picture of satisfaction. To build your bold and courageous - and envisioned - future.
Create a vision board, write it down, and/or take a picture and keep it in your wallet.
When you train a dog, you do it through a series of positive rewards. Eventually the dog learns that if it does this, it gets that. We use food and treats to create positive reinforcement.
Our mind works very much like the dog in this instance; repetition and positive reinforcement eventually create an outcome you desire. You are creating positive experiences; you're 'racking them up' so you can move further and further in the pursuit of your desires toward success.
In your pursuit towards your desires, act by doing this consistently and repeatedly. This creates new neural pathways, trains and re-trains your brain to get more of you what you desire. Through remembering positive experiences, you develop strategies for driving toward greater satisfaction, for staying healthy and contributing to your being.
However, if in the pursuit of the one thing, you desire the most, you begin to deny yourself any fun or free time, and are feeling constantly insecure, unsuccessful, unimportant, and unsafe, you're living your life in a state of lack, hoping one day that you will have an experience that you do want.
Does this mean that you should just work on your state and ignore what is driving you? Not at all!
Focus on what you want
We often need to clear away the dirt and see clearly and it's often surprising how much easier it is to do when there is guidance. Really, when you stop and think about it, most things are easier when you have help, but you seem to think that when it comes to our personal changes - you should be able to do it alone. When you are in pursuit of your desires, yes, you can do it alone, but sometimes you lose perspective on yourself, having no ability to be objective.
This is like a step by step process of cleaning the window - think of it as the window to your soul, or your inner longings, and it can be a profound journey, possibly the most important one you'll undergo. Once you start to see clearly - you will now have the 'what' identified in many areas of your life.
For some, it is like peeling back the layers of the onion, more and more revealing and less clutter as you peel back. For others, it is like cleaning the dirty window of their mental vision. Suddenly daylight streams in, illuminating all that was there, but lying dormant, unseen. For some the process is very quick, for other it's slower. Either way, it's always an exciting process that has a positive outcome.
Learn to discern what's right for you - know or get clear on what you want and then get out of the way as this makes for a life that's rewarding
- a life of purpose, passion and clarity.
In your pursuit towards your desires, these are simple questions, but they can give you some real insight into where you resist and where you're open. Often the ideas you have originating in our growing up years. Even if you've changed radically, you still hold the ideas and beliefs from your family of origin somewhere in our heart or head.
It's good to occasionally shine a light onto your beliefs and see if they still serve you. It's helpful to separate out what comes from your head and what comes from your heart.
